The National Museum is located in the eastern side of King Abdul Aziz Historical Center, in Al-Murabba neighborhood in Riyadh, next to King Abdul Aziz Palace (Al-Murabba)


Built on a land of about 17,000 square meters, the total area of its buildings is about 28,000 square meters


Inaugurated by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Fahd, may God have mercy on him in 1419 AH within the grand opening of King Abdulaziz Historical Center on the occasion of the centenary of the entry of King Abdulaziz, may God have mercy on him in Riyadh in 1319.


The architectural program of the museum has been carefully developed to build an institution of comparable quality to the world.


The National Museum building is architecturally responsive to the scale and volumetric composition of historical buildings, adjacent to the palaces of King Abdulaziz in the square.
